About the research group
The research group studies various aspects in the areas of analysis, numerics and application of inverse problems with a special focus on mathematical image processing. Research topics include the investigation of reconstruction problems for images and image sequences, the variational modeling and analysis of tailored regularization functionals, the development of efficient numerical optimization algorithms, and the transfer to concrete application scenarios. The latter include, in particular, applications in biomedical imaging such as magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. The group maintains mathematical and interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers from Graz, on a national level, as well as from Germany, Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands and France. The topics of the joint interdisciplinary projects range from magnetic resonance imaging and photoacoustic tomography to (bio-) material sciences and molecular biology as well as zoology.
