About the research group
The tricky part of this "chicken and egg" question is that formulating the "right" mathematical model requires the appropriate expertise and the available experimental data.
Our research roots in pushing forward the mathematical theory of complicated and coupled PDE models. At the same time, we build mathematical models of real world processes with a strong focus on the Life-Sciences, but also Art.
Our methodology develops systematic approaches, which use in the best possible way general structures common to many models.
The Applied Analysis group gratefully acknowledges the support of the FWF (SFB F-73 Lipid Hydrolysis, IGDK 1754 Optimization and Numerical Analysis for Partial Differential Equations with Nonsmooth Structures, I 5213 Quasi-steady-state-approximation for PDE, M 3007 Asymptotic derivation of diffusion models for mixtures), the OeAD (FR 03/2020, CZ 18/2020) and the University of Graz (Unconventional Research: Mathematics and Arts).

Team: Applied Analysis
Welcome to the working group ‘Applied Analysis’ at the University of Graz! Our team is dedicated to the research and application of mathematical analysis methods to various practical problems. With a strong focus on interdisciplinarity and collaboration, we work on innovative solutions in areas such as differential equations, numerical analysis and optimisation.
