To develop, implement and test a variational approach to particle tracking in the context of the "Optofluidic Force Induction" imaging technique. The aim is to determine by way of example whether and to what extent this approach meets the requirements of the analysis tool to be developed within the framework of the FFG project "LightMatters" at the Medical University of Graz.

Term: 09/2017 – 08/2018, FWF

The goal of this project is to develop and employ new mathematical models for the regularization of dynamic image data. To this aim, we transfer image data to a higher dimensional space where essential properties are more easily accessible with simple mathematical operations. This allows us to achieve new regularization approaches for dynamic data which better describe image dynamics than existing ones and are still computationally tractable. In terms of practical applications, such models allow to improve the reconstruction quality of dynamic MR data, thereby contributing to a high resolution imaging of the beating heart.
